In 2026, the Town of Barnstable, like many other communities across the United States, will celebrate our Nation’s 250th Birthday. Barnstable’s celebrations will launch in June with events expected throughout the summer and fall seasons in all seven of our villages. This year, July 4th, 2026 will be a special day in the Town and we aim to celebrate the Nation’s birthday alongside the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The Town of Barnstable proudly celebrates its 250th anniversary in 2026, joining communities across the nation in marking America’s Semiquincentennial. As one of the oldest towns in the country, Barnstable’s history is deeply intertwined with the story of the United States. This year’s July 4th celebration will honor that legacy with a full day of festivities, including our annual street entertainment, a high‑energy Battle of the Bands, and a spectacular drone show finale that lights up the night sky in tribute to our past, present, and future.

Parking and Public Transportation

Main Street runs east to west through the center of the map with highlighted free two-hour parking along Main Street and free six-hour parking in Town Hall, South Street, and North Street lots. Landmarks shown include Town Hall, Hyannis Public Library, the JFK Museum, HyArts Artist Shanties, the Hyannis Village Green, transportation center, police and fire stations, Aselton Park, Bismore Park, and Hyannis Inner Harbor. A message at the bottom reads “Pardon Our Construction!” and provides parking guidance during construction.

Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority (CCRTA) has hourly parking available (after the first 30 minutes free) at the Hyannis Transportation Center. Long-term parking is also available for daily rates.
