On Monday, March 23, 2026, a contractor working for the Town of Barnstable, C.H. Nickerson, will be excavating a portion of the Bearses Way Shared Use Path to facilitate the installation of sewer infrastructure between Bearses Way and the Water Pollution Control Facility.
This work is anticipated to be off-road, with minimal impact to traffic. At times, construction vehicles may be entering or exiting the roadway from the work area. Work will occur Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
This work will allow the recently installed sewer main along Bearses Way to connect to the Water Pollution Control Facility (WPCF), and is being done as part of the Nitrogen Removal and Headworks Upgrade Project at the WPCF. This project will further enhance wastewater treatment and increase the capacity of the WPCF. Additional details about the project can be found at BarnstableWaterResources.com/WPCF.
As always, please slow down and use extreme caution when traveling near construction areas and follow posted safety and detour signs.
Questions should be directed to Christopher Gadd, Communications Assistant for the Department of Public Works, at Christopher.Gadd@barnstable.gov or 508-790-6400.
