NOTICE OF DOCUMENT AVAILABILITY, PUBLIC MEETING & INFO SESSION, AND PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD
The Town of Barnstable is preparing the Annual Action Plan for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.
PUBLIC HEARING
The Town of Barnstable’s Planning and Development Department will conduct a public hearing on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 5:00 PM at the Barnstable Town Hall in the James H. Crocker Jr. Hearing Room, 367 Main Street, 2nd Floor, Hyannis, MA 02601. The James H. Crocker Jr. Hearing Room is handicap accessible.
The purpose of the public hearing is to obtain comments from residents, public agencies, community organizations, and other interested parties in Barnstable regarding the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) One Year Action Plan for the 2026 Program Year. Comments provided at the meeting will be taken into consideration as the plan is prepared.
The plan serves as the planning and strategic document for the Town’s CDBG Program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The purpose of the CDBG program is to provide housing, economic opportunities and a suitable living environment for low and moderate income persons. The range of eligible activities includes affordable housing, economic development, public facility improvements and public services. The anticipated funding amount for the Town of Barnstable CDBG Program Year 2026 is $291,036.00.
Document Availability
The Annual Action Plan for Program Year 2026 will be available for review on Wednesday April 1st on the Town’s website at: https://barnstable.gov/departments/cdbg and in the Planning and Development Office, 367 Main Street, 3rd Floor, Hyannis, MA 02601. The meeting and document locations are handicap accessible.
PUBLIC COMMENTS
Comments can be submitted by email to Jim Kupfer at James.Kupfer@barnstable.gov with “CDBG Comments” in the subject line. Additionally, written comments can be dropped off in person or mailed to Planning and Development, 367 Main Street, 3rd Floor, Hyannis, MA 02601. Comments received by Monday May 4, 2026 will be included in the final submission to HUD for approval.
