Join us as we break ground on a stronger, more resilient future for Hyannis.
The Town of Barnstable Department of Public Works Water Supply Division, together with the Barnstable Municipal Water Board and project partners Kleinfelder and Daniel O’Connell’s Sons, is proud to mark the start of construction on the new Straightway Water Treatment Facility — a vital component of the Town-owned Hyannis Water System. The facility plays a critical role in delivering clean, reliable water to Hyannis residents and businesses.
This project aims to maximize the permitted capacity of the Hyannis Water System; increase the amount of water that wells can provide; allow the water treatment facility to be operated year-round; improve the water treatment process to further improve water quality; protect the wells and buildings from flooding; and improve overall system resiliency.
With financing support from Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF), the new treatment facility further solidifies the Town’s investment in and commitment to delivering robust and sustainable water supply for generations to come,
