Planned Soil Borings Along Various Roadways in Centerville
On Tuesday, May 19, and Wednesday, May 20, 2026, a contractor working for the Town of Barnstable Department of Public Works is scheduled to perform soil borings along various roadways in Centerville, including South Main Street, Church Hill Road, and Fernbrook Lane. Work will occur from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM and is anticipated to be completed on May 20, weather permitting.
This work will require temporary modifications to local traffic, including lane closures or lane narrowing, within the vicinity of the active work zone.
Soil borings require a small hole to be drilled in the roadway to assess the soil conditions and groundwater elevations, which are critical elements of the project design. This work will require a drilling rig to be onsite, which will be accompanied by traffic control personnel within direct proximity to the work.
