Starting Monday, May 19, 2025, a contractor for the Town of Barnstable, Allstate Construction, will commence chip seal work on the following identified roadways:

Columbia Avenue (Marstons Mills)

Willington Avenue (Marstons Mills)

Hartford Avenue (Marstons Mills)

Webster Road (Marstons Mills)

Rhody Circle (Marstons Mills)

Captain Studley Road (Marstons Mills)

Coach Light Road (Centerville)

Henry F. Loring Road (Centerville)

Ansel Howland Road (Centerville)

Work will occur Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, weather dependent, and is anticipated to take two to three weeks to complete.

Chip sealing is a process in which heated asphalt is applied to the road, followed by a layer of crushed stone which is compacted into the asphalt, creating a durable, protective layer. Construction activity will occur in multiple phases including street sweeping, leveling of asphalt, structure adjustments, and application of chip seal. As a result, adjustments to traffic flow, including temporary lane closures, may be necessary to safely complete portions of the work. Traffic control personnel will be onsite to assist motorists as needed.
