Beginning as early as the week of May 4, 2026, a contractor working for the Town of Barnstable, Aqua Line Utility, Inc., will begin construction of new stormwater infrastructure as part of the Clamshell Cove Road Stormwater Improvement Projects.

To facilitate this work, the following temporary road closures are expected during construction:

  • Clamshell Cove Road, from Clamshell Point to Crawford Road
  • Cotuit Cove Road, from Clamshell Cove Road to Crawford Road

Construction is anticipated to take place Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, weather permitting. This work is anticipated to take approximately two weeks to complete.

Throughout construction, residential and emergency access will be maintained. Traffic control personnel will be onsite to assist motorists around and, if needed, through the construction area. Outside of construction hours, the roadway will be re-opened to all traffic.

In partnership with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), these projects will improve drainage and reduce stormwater inputs into the Shoestring Bay estuary, in an effort to protect shellfish habitat and improve water quality.
