The Town of Barnstable’s contractor, C.C. Construction, will pause sewer construction activities associated with the Centerville Village Sewer Expansion Project – North Phase by the end of the day on June 26, 2026, in preparation for the summer season.

 

Construction activities will pause within the following areas:

 

  • Route 28
  • Shootflying Hill Road
  • Phinney’s Lane
  • Mother’s Park area

 

Before construction pauses for the season, crews will complete temporary restoration activities throughout the project area over the next two weeks. Work will include temporary paving, roadway patching, pavement markings, loam and seeding, general site cleanup, and removal of construction equipment and staging materials.

 

Temporary Paving Schedule

Route 28 & Phinney’s Lane

  • Wednesday, June 17 into Thursday, June 18
  • 7:00 PM – 6:00 AMOvernight paving is scheduled along Route 28, between Phinney’s Lane and Old Stage Road, including a portion of Phinney’s Lane near Old Post Road.

     

    Old Stage Road & Shootflying Hill Road

    • Thursday, June 18
    • Approximately 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM

     

    Daytime paving is scheduled along Old Stage Road, between Route 28 and Great Marsh Road, and along Shootflying Hill Road. Traffic impacts will vary based on crew location and the extent of work underway. Motorists should expect localized road closures, temporary traffic pattern adjustments, and periodic delays while traveling through the area. This work will be completed as a rolling operation, and motorists should expect periodic delays when traveling through the area.

     

    Traffic & Access

     

    Access for residents, businesses, and emergency services will be maintained throughout restoration activities. Temporary traffic pattern adjustments, lane closures, or road closures may be necessary to safely complete portions of the work.

     

    Traffic control personnel will be onsite to assist motorists as needed. Drivers are encouraged to reduce speed, use caution, and follow all posted traffic control and detour signage.

     

    The Town appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as this work is completed ahead of the summer season.
