Temporary South Street Sidewalk Closure Near Barnstable Town Hall

Pedestrian Detour Begins August 19th

Beginning Wednesday, August 19, 2026, temporary sidewalk closures will be in place along the Barnstable Town Hall side of South Street, Hyannis, to support electrical infrastructure work associated with Town Hall. This portion of work is anticipated to be completed by Friday, August 21, weather and construction conditions permitting.

Pedestrians traveling along South Street will be temporarily detoured to the opposite side of the street using the existing crosswalks. Pedestrians are asked to follow posted signage and use designated crosswalks when navigating around the work area.

Town Hall will remain open and accessible throughout the project. Previously communicated parking restrictions and access changes associated with this project also remain in effect.
