Town Hall Elevator Replacement September–December 2026
Beginning September 8, 2026, the Barnstable Town Hall elevator will be out of service for replacement. Work is expected to continue through December 2026 (timeline may vary based on materials and contractor availability).
During this period, Town Hall will remain open, and accommodations are in place to ensure continued access to programs, services, and meetings.

Project Timeline

Public Meetings
Town Council: Meeting in person; public participation available via Zoom.
Regulatory Boards: All meetings held on Zoom during construction.
Advisory Boards: May meet on Zoom or pause meetings; those already meeting off-site may continue in person at those locations.

Access to Programs and Services
A staffed greeter/customer service station will operate on the ground floor, near the accessible entrance.
A staffed first-floor greeter/customer service station will also be available for those entering from the main entrance.
Staff at both locations will help direct visitors, assist with department access, and provide general support during regular Town Hall operating hours.

Ground Floor Accessible Restroom
An accessible portable restroom will be available near the accessible entrance during operating hours. The unit will be locked in the evening. There is also Comfort Station located outside of School Administration Building which is accessible.

Signage
Clear signage will be posted inside and outside Town Hall with directions and accessibility information.
