The Cape Symphony and the Town of Barnstable Present a Free Outdoor 4th of July Concert “Joy4July” at Aselton Park Kicks Off a New Annual Tradition; 2022 4th of July Town Events

As part of the 2022 Town of Barnstable Fourth of July Celebrations, the Cape Symphony led by Artistic Director & Conductor Jung-Ho Pak and featuring several special guests will perform on Monday, July 4, 2022 at 8:00 PM at Michael K. Aselton Memorial Park in Hyannis.  The performance, blending pop, Broadway, patriotic, and Americana music, is free and no tickets are required. This unique holiday concert is the culmination of a day full of patriotic traditions, with a boat parade and fun activities for families, residents, and visitors of all ages.

“We are thrilled to be collaborating with the Town of Barnstable to bring this dream to reality,” said Michael Albaugh, Executive Director, Cape Symphony. “We hope that the Cape Symphony will be a part of the Town’s Fourth of July celebration for many years to come.”

“Joy4July” will feature guest artists Mark Kopitzke and LaKisha Jones. LaKisha was an “American Idol” finalist and appeared on Broadway as Sophia in The Color Purple. LaKisha will perform favorite hits by Whitney Houston, Donna Summer, Tina Turner, and Aretha Franklin, including “Proud Mary,” “Respect,” and “Last Dance.” Mark Kopitzke is the lead singer of the Glenn Miller Orchestra, and performs at Disneyland with the West Coast’s hottest little big band, Phat Cat Swinger. Channeling a bit of Michael Bublé with a dash of Frank Sinatra, Mark will present swinging big band numbers including “Feeling Good,” “Sing Sing Sing,” and “It’s a Beautiful Day.” Both talented and wildly popular vocalists have performed with the Cape Symphony – Mark appeared in the recent “Kings of Swing & Soul” and LaKisha joined the orchestra for the 2019 “New Year’s Day Party.”

“These two singers are crazy good and audiences love them, so they’re the perfect guests for this exciting outdoor show,” said Jung-Ho Pak. “We’ll also feature wonderful patriotic songs to celebrate the Fourth, including ‘Stars and Stripes Forever,’ ‘America the Beautiful,’ and a special salute to our Armed Forces and veterans.”

The Cape Symphony and the Town of Barnstable are proud to present “Joy4July” on Monday, July 4 at 8:00 PM, Michael K. Aselton Memorial Park at the corner of South and Ocean Streets, Hyannis. Attendees are welcome to bring their own chairs and blankets as well as a picnic dinner. Please plan to pack in and pack out what you bring; please do not litter in the park. Alcohol is not permitted on Town property. The concert will last for ninety minutes with no intermission. The rain date for the concert is Saturday, September 3, 2022; if postponement is necessary, it will be announced on the Cape Symphony website and on social media on the morning of Monday, July 4. PARKING & TRANSPORTATION – There are several municipal lots in downtown Hyannis where free parking is available for up to six hours.  All-day permits can be purchased at www.permitvats.com.  There is no on-site parking.  Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority (CCRTA) has free parking available at the Hyannis Transportation Center on July 4^th only.  Long term parking is also available for daily rates.  CCRTA will be operating on its regular routes with a loop every 45 minutes throughout the day.  Normally the service ends at 9 PM but service will be extended as needed to accommodate riders following the concert.  For more information and routes, please visit www.capecodrta.org.

CAI, the public radio station for the Cape, the Coast, and the Islands, is the Cape Symphony’s media partner for “Joy4July” and will broadcast the concert live on July 4 from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

11 AM COTUIT – The Parade begins on School Street at 11am, then left on Main Street and continues down Main Street to the prior Cotuit Elementary School. The termination point is the public field behind the old school building. Presented by the Cotuit Civic Association.

11 AM HYANNIS PORT MINI-MARATHON & PARADE – The traditional fun run starts at the Post Office at 9 AM followed by the parade at 11 AM beginning at the Hyannisport Post Office on Longwood Avenue; taking a left onto Washington Avenue; a right onto Lafayette Avenue; left onto Winchester Avenue; a left onto Scudder Avenue and continuing onto Dale Avenue to the West Beach Club, where it will end.
