Blow up Dinosaurs, giant bubbles and a princess all having fun on Main Street in Hyannis It’s time once again for a day of fun on Main Street, Hyannis. On Sunday, Sept. 19, from noon to 4 p.m., the village’s central strand will be vehicle-free so all ages can stroll, cycle, or otherwise move through a multi-block outdoor festival. Hyannis Open Streets is back!

The free event offers a wide selection of music – big band, the blues, and more – plus the ever-popular JT & Angel dance party. You can watch a demonstration of jijitsu or marvel at the skills of talented stilt walkers.

Over on the Village Green, the ever-popular kids zone will feature a giant open-air slide, fun games, and – new this year – a kids karaoke on the bandstand stage.

Many restaurants and stores along Main Street will be open Sunday, and some will have special offers reflecting the spirit of the day. Hyannis Open Streets is all about getting out and about. Everyone is welcome to this barrier-free celebration of movement.

Although parking will be banned on Main Street, there will be plenty of free spaces nearby in the North and South street lots and at the Hyannis Transportation Center.

Hyannis Open Streets is presented by the Greater Hyannis Civic Association, the Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District, and the Hyannis Area Chamber of Commerce, and is fueled by the kind support of its sponsoring businesses and organizations.

The rain date for Sunday’s event is Sept. 26. The next scheduled Hyannis Open Streets is set for Oct. 17, with a rain date of Oct. 24.
