Paddles up, Barnstable!

It could not have been a more picture-perfect fall day on Wednesday, October 13th 2021 as Town officials and our local pickleball community showed up en masse for the official opening of the eagerly anticipated Pickleball/Tennis courts in Marstons Mills.

Located at 760 Osterville-West Barnstable Road, next to West Villages Elementary School (PLEASE USE THE APPROPRIATE ENTRANCE!), the complex features 10 dedicated pickleball courts, as well as two tennis courts that can be converted into an additional 6 pickleball courts. Touted as one of the best complexes in New England, if not the entire country, the courts are already hopping with daily activity thanks to the exploding popularity of pickleball.

Members of Barnstable Pickleball expressed their gratitude to the Town for their responsiveness to the growing demand for pickleball courts, in particular the Community Preservation Committee and Town Council for supporting funding for the project and the Department of Public Works and Recreation Division for inviting them to collaborate in the project design.

A key reason for pickleball’s rapid growth is that it can be played by people of all ages, making it a truly intergenerational activity.
We encourage you to check out this fantastic community resource and learn more about the health and wellness benefits of pickleball as a recreational and social opportunity!
