Starting Monday, June 17, 2024, a contractor for the Town of Barnstable will commence paving on West Main Street, Hyannis. Work will occur in two stages as outlined below.

 

Stage 1: Intersection of West Main Street and Strawberry Hill Road

Monday, June 17 and Tuesday, June 18, 2024, during the overnight hours of 7:00PM – 5:00AM.

 

Stage 2: West Main Street, from Route 28 to Strawberry Hill Road

Starting Tuesday, June 18, 2024. Will occur from 7:00AM – 5:00PM, daily, weather permitting. Anticipated to be completed within one week.

 

Work will include milling of the roadways, structure adjustments, leveling, and paving. Dependent upon the nature of the work, traffic within the vicinity of the paving operations will be modified, including necessary closures of West Main Street. All resident and emergency access will be maintained, while businesses located on West Main Street will continue to be accessible via Route 28. Motorists should expect delays. As always, please slow down and use extreme caution when traveling through road construction areas and follow posted safety, detour signs, and onsite traffic control.
