(HYANNIS, MA – November 1, 2023) – This year’s Veterans Day activities will take place on Saturday, November 11, 2023.
JFK Memorial & JFK Hyannis Museum Honor John F. Kennedy, our 35th president.
8:30 AM Join Us for a Veterans Day Wreath Laying at the JFK Memorial and the Korean War Memorial on 480 Ocean Street, Hyannis.
9:00 AM Following the wreath event at the Memorial, a wreath will be laid on the Veterans Memorial at the JFK Hyannis Museum, 397 Main Street. Retired and active military and their families will receive free admission to the JFK Hyannis Museum all day.
9:30 AM The Annual Barnstable Soldiers Veterans’ Day Ceremony honoring our veterans will begin on the Hyannis Village Green Bandstand, 367 Main Street, Hyannis with a welcome followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, Invocation, Governor’s message, and this year’s Guest Speaker is US Army Ranger and Barnstable Town Councilor Paul Cusack. The program will conclude with the laying of the wreaths and the Benediction.
10:30 AM Everyone will be invited to attend the 6th Annual Veterans Town Hall will begin in the James H. Crocker, Jr. Hearing Room. The event features six (6) ten minute testimonies of Combat Veterans.
Please join this community event hosted by the Town of Barnstable and the Cape & Islands Veterans Outreach Center: an opportunity to listen respectfully and demonstrate your interest genuinely. This is a solemn and non-political event. There is no question and answer period; no debate on the merits or justifications of war; no recrimination or accusations. This event’s concept was created by Sebastian Junger, Journalist, Author and Veterans Advocate, and supported by Congressman Seth Moulton, former Marine and Iraq Veteran.
A Buffet Brunch compliments of Hyannis Elks Lodge #1549 will follow the presentations.
