During the next week, the Barnstable County Dredge and the Town of Barnstable’s contractor, Dig-it Construction, will be mobilizing equipment in preparation to resume the Cotuit Bay Entrance Channel Dredging Project. Dredging activity is anticipated to begin the week of October 7, 2024. Dredging activities will occur Monday through Saturday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, depending on weather. If necessary, dredging activities may also occur on Sundays from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The project is anticipated to be completed in November 2024.
This project consists of dredging the approach channel into Cotuit Bay. The dredged material will be used for beach nourishment at the eastern end of Dead Neck Island. Individuals operating vessels within the vicinity are urged to be mindful of the work and use caution while navigating the waters around the dredging operation.
