A contractor for the Town of Barnstable Department of Public Works is scheduled to install push-button activated flashing beacons on South Street at the intersection with Pleasant Street in Hyannis. The work will occur in phases is anticipated to be completed in June 2023, subject to favorable weather.
The purpose of this work is to enhance pedestrian safety at this crosswalk by providing flashing beacons intended to increase driver awareness.
While most of the work will occur in the sidewalks, temporary lane closures on South Street are expected to safely perform the work. At least one travel lane will remain open to traffic at all times during construction. As always, please slow down and use extreme caution when traveling through road construction areas, and follow posted safety and detour signs.
