Dr. Sara Ahern, current Superintendent of Franklin Public Schools, was selected to be the next Superintendent of Barnstable Public Schools, pending successful contract negotiations with the School Committee.
The School Committee met in a Special School Committee Meeting on January 12 to discuss the Superintendent Search process, candidates, and to ultimately vote for the next Superintendent.
The three finalists had their final public interviews on Monday, January 10 and visited various Barnstable Public Schools on January 10 and 11. School Committee Vice Chair Kathy Bent, Chair of the Subcommittee for the Superintendent Search, gave an overview of the process the Subcommittee followed to put forth the finalists to the School Committee. Ms. Bent and School Committee Member Peter Goode discussed the virtual site visits they had with each of the candidates’ current districts. Each Committee member discussed the three Superintendent finalists and ultimately voted for Dr. Sara Ahern. Watch here
