Starting Monday, April 22, 2024, a contractor for the Town of Barnstable will commence paving on Route 28 during off-peak, overnight hours. Construction will occur from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM, Monday through Thursday evenings, weather permitting. This work will include paving disturbed portions of Route 28 in three sections, from Phinney’s Lane to West Main Street, from West Main Street to Captain Ellis Lane, and from Pitchers Way to approximately 465 Falmouth Road, as shown in the accompanying figure.

Work will occur in various stages including milling of the roadways, structure adjustments, leveling, and paving. Dependent upon the nature of the work, traffic within the vicinity of the paving operations will be modified, including necessary closures of Route 28 and detours. Work is anticipated to take three weeks to complete. Motorists should expect delays. As always, please slow down and use extreme caution when traveling through road construction areas and follow posted safety, detour signs, and onsite traffic control.
