Route 28 Sewer Expansion Project – Anticipated Updates to Traffic Management Plan

Sewer installation will continue within the Route 28 roadway. Construction within Route 28 will occur during the hours of 8:15AM to 5:30PM, weather permitting. As work progresses along the state highway, towards West Main Street, a change in traffic management will be required.

Continuation of Route 28 Westbound Traffic Detour

On Monday, September 25, 2023, a single-direction detour of westbound traffic will remain in place. The westbound traffic detour utilizes Strawberry Hill Road and Phinney’s Lane to navigate motorists around the active work zone. In this current set-up, eastbound traffic on Route 28 is maintained.

Introduction of Route 28 Eastbound Traffic Detour

Dependent on the progress of work, beginning as early as Tuesday, September 26, 2023, a single-direction detour of eastbound traffic will be necessary to safely complete construction on Route 28. The anticipated eastbound traffic detour will utilize West Main Street and Pitcher’s Way to navigate motorists around the active work zone. In this proposed set-up, westbound traffic on Route 28 is maintained.

Businesses on Route 28 will remain accessible throughout all phases of construction via posted detours along with assistance from traffic control.

Motorists should expect delays. As always, please slow down and use extreme caution when traveling through the road construction areas and follow posted safety and detour signs.
