Installation of New Sidewalk on Attucks Lane in Barnstable Village
A contractor is scheduled to install a new sidewalk along the south side of Attucks Lane from the existing sidewalk near Stop & Shop to the Festival Plaza driveway opposite Wilkens Lane. The work is anticipated to be completed by September 29, 2023, subject to favorable weather.
The new sidewalk is privately funded as part of the development requirements for a new apartment complex on Wilkens Lane. This sidewalk will connect to existing crosswalks with existing pedestrian signals at the intersection of Attucks Lane & Wilkens Lane/Festival Plaza driveway.
While most of the work will occur on the road shoulder, temporary lane narrowing is expected on Attucks Lane to perform this work. The travel lanes are expected to remain open to traffic at all times during the work. As always, please slow down and use extreme caution when traveling through road construction areas, and follow posted safety and detour signs.
