On March 18th the Barnstable Youth Commission and Recreation Division, in partnership with Barnstable Public Schools, hosted the 7th Grade Youth Summit at the Barnstable Intermediate School and the Barnstable Adult Community Center. As students transition to High School, they become more susceptible to issues such as peer pressure, substance abuse, and fear of social rejection. The goal of the Youth Summit is to provide students with information on how to handle these stresses while adapting to the high school environment, as well as opportunities to form connections with current high schoolers and learn about local resources to support our youth. Two keynote presenters, Robert Hackenson Jr and Kevin Rosario, engaged with students on substance abuse prevention and peer pressure.
