At Barnstable Intermediate School – Tyler ArlingtonI am pleased to share that I am appointing Tyler Arlington as the Principal of the Barnstable Intermediate School, having been impressed with his vision and leadership.
Prior to July 1, 2024, Mr. Arlington had been serving as an Associate Principal at BIS, a role he had held since 2021. Before joining Barnstable, Mr. Arlington had worked as a science teacher and as an Assistant Principal at the Garfield Middle School in Revere. He completed his Bachelors Degree at Ithaca College, a Masters Degree in General Sciences at Cambridge College, and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies, an administrator preparation program, at American International College.
Mr. Arlington brings experience at BIS, a strong sense of teaching and learning, particularly in regards to supporting multilingual learners. Mr. Arlington brings both stability to BIS in a permanent appointment, but also an instructional vision and focus for the future. He is an ardent supporter of Barnstable Redhawks, seeing the important connection of BIS between BUES and BHS.

At Barnstable Community Innovation School – Kristen Mendl-DayI am pleased to share that I am appointing Kristen Mendl-Day as the Principal of the Barnstable Community Innovation School.
Since this past summer, Ms. Mendl has been instrumental in shaping a positive climate and culture of belonging at BCIS, bringing staff and families together around a renewed innovation plan. She accomplished this in an interim capacity and has shown strong leadership over the course of this year. In my opinion, and that of the overwhelming number of faculty and staff as well as input from families, she is well positioned to lead BCIS into the implementation of their shared vision.
Prior to serving in the interim role, Ms. Mendl was serving as a Multi-age classroom teacher at BUES. Prior to her time in Barnstable, she taught in numerous community schools in Vermont. She completed her Bachelors Degree at the University of Vermont, post graduate teacher certification at Saint Michael’s College, and a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership at Bridgewater State University.

For the safety of our students, updating student information is a process that should be completed at least once each year in order for the school to have accurate, important student information, such as addresses, phone numbers, emergency contacts, and medical needs. However, the process can be completed many times throughout the year any time there is a change to information.
Aspen has a new interface called “Go” which is more mobile-friendly. It is a quick, convenient way to update student information and review student academic progress from a phone or tablet.
This link is the login page for parents/guardians to log in to Aspen: https://ma-barnstable.myfollett.com/aspen-login/?deploymentId=ma-barnstable
On the BPS website ‘Update Student Information’ page: https://www.barnstable.k12.ma.us/link-2/update-student-information, there are three sections toward the top of the page to guide parents and guardians through the process:
1. Login to Aspen 2. Directions to Update 3. Frequently Asked Questions
We appreciate your attention to this new process as it is critical for maintaining accurate and current information for your child/children. By reviewing and confirming this information, you are helping us to provide the highest level of care and support possible for your child.
If you have any questions, please contact your school or, at BHS, the hub’s administrative assistant.
