Santuit Preserve Bog Walk
Beginning time: 8 AM
Approx. length/time to complete: 3 mi./1-1.5 hrs. Starting point: Santuit-Newtown Road, Cotuit
Rating of terrain and pace: Moderate
Directions: From Rte 28: N. on Santuit-Newtown Rd
about .5 miles. Trailhead on left after Lovell’s Pond boat launch. Look for yellow gate.

Sandy Neck Fall Dune Hike
Beginning time: 10 AM
Approx. length/time to complete: 1.5 mi./2 hrs.

Starting point: Sandy Neck Gatehouse
Rating of terrain and pace: Challenging, strenuous terrain
Directions: 425 Sandy Rd. Parking is first come first
served at the gatehouse. There is additional parking at
the beach parking lot. Walk leader: NRO Ann Marie Luppino – 508-362-8300
Enjoy the beautiful colors of fall on Sandy Neck. Natural
Resource Officers will lead participants through the
various habitats found throughout the park with
opportunities to see some of the different species that
call Sandy Neck home.

Hathaway’s Pond
Beginning time: 1:30 PM
Approx. length/time to complete: 1.5 mi./.5 hr. Starting point: Trailhead by beach/picnic area
Rating of terrain and pace: Easy, some small hills,
leisurely pace
Directions: From Rte. 132, turn north onto Phinney’s
Lane, go 1/3 mile heading toward 6A. The entrance to
Hathaway’s Pond is on the left. Follow the road to the
parking area for the town beach. The trailhead is just to
the left as you face the beach. Walk leader: Cate Gulliver – 774-487-7048
This is a loop trail around the pond, with wood and
pond vistas, and interpretive markers.

A New Boardwalk for Barnstable Village
Beginning time: 3 PM
Approx. length/time to complete: 1 mi./1.5 hrs.
Starting point: Trayser trailhead, across from the
Barnstable Unitarian Church on Route 6A
Rating of terrain and pace: Moderate, low hills

some rises and slightly bumpy areas
Directions: Route 149 to 2135 Meetinghouse Farm, park in the green near the greenhouse/barn or

Conservation property with 30 community gardens, a
short path through the woods, holly grove, floral
quilt, green house, and restored barn.

Anniversary, proudly presents the first ever Thoreau’s
Cape Cod Readathon happening from 10 AM-3 PM on

Bridge Creek Conservation Area
Beginning time: 3 PM
Approx. length/time to complete: 3+ mi./2 hrs. Starting point: Grassy triangle in front of West Parish
Church, West Barnstable
Rating of terrain and pace: Mostly flat with a few hills. Average pace. Directions: From Rte 6, take exit 65 to Rte 149N
(Meetinghouse Way). West Parish Church on immediate
left after overpass. Park on the quiet section of the

This walk goes through a varied terrain of woods, wetlands, and old cranberry bogs. Views of marshlands. A beloved route through conserved landscape. Good
walking shoes, water, and tick precautions

Cape Cod Community College Forest Loop
Beginning time: 10 AM
Approx. length/time to complete: 2.5 mi./1.5-2 hrs. Starting point: CCCC Parking lot #12 (solar canopy
near tennis courts)
Rating of terrain and pace: Moderate pace and
climbing
Directions: Traveling north on Rte 132 from Hyannis,
turn right into the second entrance to Cape Cod
Community College (opposite the YMCA). Park under

Join pathway enthusiast Lev Malakhoff on a journey
through the forest around the periphery of the Cape
Cod Community College property. This recently
completed trail loop travels almost entirely on natural
surface trails and forms part of the Town of Barnstable’s Pathways Network.

Marstons Mills River Headwaters Restoration Walk
Beginning time: 10 AM
Approximate length/time to complete: 1.5 mi./I hr. Starting point: 948 River Road
Rating of terrain and pace: Flat terrain at an easy
pace. Bring sunblock or a hat as there is minimal
shade along the route. Directions: Pull into the shared driveway at 948 River

Join Barnstable Clean Water Coalition (BCWC) staff
on a tour of BCWC’s historic 1800’s cranberry bogs at
the headwaters of the Marstons Mills River. See the
headwaters of the Marstons Mills River, learn about
ongoing wetlands restoration work in the area and
how this bog system provides an opportunity to
improve water quality in the Three Bays estuary.
