Starting on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, a contractor for the Town of Barnstable will commence replacement of water main and installation of water services on Lewis Pond Road, Cotuit. Construction activity will occur daily, from approximately 7:00AM to 4:00PM, weather permitting. As a result, Lewis Pond Road will be closed from Highland Avenue to Old Oyster Road/High Street. As work progresses, single lane alternating traffic will also be required on portions of Highland Avenue and Old Oyster Road.
Activity will occur in various phases including installation of water main, testing and sampling, installation of individual services, and restoration of the disturbed project area. Local resident and emergency access will be maintained throughout construction, with traffic control onsite to assist motorists. As always, please slow down and use extreme caution when traveling through road construction areas and follow posted safety, detour signs, and onsite traffic control.
