(Hyannis, MA – August 10, 2023) The Town of Barnstable’s Planning Board and Hyannis Main Street Waterfront Historic District Commission are working collaboratively to update the existing Downtown Hyannis Design Guidelines. The Design Guidelines lay out a framework for all exterior improvements to Downtown Hyannis which includes the Downtown Hyannis Zoning Districts (also known as the Growth Incentive Zone) and Hyannis Main Street Waterfront Historic District.
Building off of the newly adopted Downtown Hyannis rezoning, this unified document seeks to create a clear consistent path forward for each applicant and the applicable permit granting authority to foster and champion the historic and maritime character of Downtown Hyannis with the opportunity to redevelop and define the built environment of Hyannis with quality, character, and charm.
A draft of the Proposed Downtown Hyannis Unified Design Guidelines and Regulations can be found on the Town of Barnstable’s Planning and Development website, https://www.townofbarnstable.us/planninganddevelopment/, under “Current Projects”.
The public is invited and encouraged to comment on the Proposed Downtown Hyannis Unified Design Guidelines and Regulations.
