Downtown Hyannis Main Street Live Music and Community Celebration

Cape Symphony’s “Joy4July” Free Concert at Aselton Park 7:30 PM

2024 Town of Barnstable Fourth of July Celebrations are set to offer parades and festivals and road races, plus the return of a very special collaboration with Cape Symphony at Aselton Park that will feature a free live concert with music for all to enjoy in Downtown Hyannis.

BARNSTABLE-WEST BARNSTABLE — Patriotic themed floats will parade through Barnstable Village with youth activities afterward at the Hollow playground area.  Presented by Barnstable Village Civic Association.

10:30 AM

CENTERVILLE — Kids and parade participants assemble at the Centerville Elementary School starting at 9:00 AM. At 10:30 AM, after raising the flag, giving the pledge of allegiance, and singing “America the Beautiful”, a Centerville Fire Truck and the Scout Troop 54 Color Guard lead those walking, riding decorated bicycles, pulling floats and or pushing strollers to proceed onto Bumps River Road, Park Avenue, and onto Main Street and ending at the Centerville Recreation Center rear parking lot. Once there, Parade participants are served hot dogs, ice cream, cotton candy and water; meet summer league baseball players; enjoy face painting; and are showered with candy from the “candy cannon”. Awards are given for Best Float and Best Decorated Bicycle. Presented by the Centerville Civic Association.

COTUIT — The Parade begins on School Street, with some walkers and fire vehicles lining up on High Street.  The parade proceeds down School Street and turns left onto Main Street before continuing down Main Street to the old Cotuit Elementary School property.  The termination point is the public field behind the school building. Presented by the Cotuit Civic Association.

HYANNIS PORT MINI-MARATHON & PARADE — The traditional fun run starts at the Hyannis Port Post Office on Longwood Avenue at 9:00 AM followed by the parade at 11:00 AM beginning at the same location; taking a left onto Washington Avenue; a right onto Lafayette Avenue; left onto Winchester Avenue; a left onto Scudder Avenue and continuing onto Dale Avenue to the West Beach Club, where it will end. Presented by the West Beach Club.

COTUIT FIRECRACKER ROAD RACE — An annual Run/Bike/Walk Athon event at Lowell Park Field to celebrate the village of Cotuit and raise funds for several local non-profits. More information at www.semcsports.com.

 

DOWNTOWN HYANNIS FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION – THURSDAY, JULY 4, 2024

HYANNIS HARBOR BOAT PARADE – The Cape Cod Maritime Museum, Hyannis Marina, and the Hyannis Yacht Club continue to collaborate and present the Annual Hyannis Boat Parade.  Boats assemble off of Hyannis Yacht Club and head to the inner harbor to show off their red, white and blue at approximately 4:30 PM before circling the inner harbor to show off their civic pride to the many hundreds of spectators that gather along the waterfront at Bismore Park. To register your watercraft or ask questions, please email Joe@hyannismarina.com or eyork@capecodmaritimemuseum.org.
4:00 – 7:30 PM DOWNTOWN HYANNIS will offer lively music on Main Street and at the Hyannis Village Green Bandstand. There is something for everyone to enjoy and admission is FREE! The street will be open to traffic and regular parking. Pop-up musical performances and deejays will be stationed in locations along Hyannis Main Street during dinner hours. A variety of musical genres will be featured with live performances by local musicians, deejays and community groups. Giant puppets, jugglers, a magician and other roaming entertainers will delight residents and visitors alike throughout the afternoon and evening. The Yarmouth Minutemen will host an educational immersive re-enactment on the Village Green including colonial life and non-firing musket and cannon drilling. Performances on the Bandstand will include the Cape Cod Ukulele Club and the popular Cape Cod Moonlighters Big Band, followed by Community Drumming with Sam Holmstock. All are welcome to visit, learn, and play at the Village Green, Outdoor Play Oasis at the Hyannis Public Library and to visit the popular HyArts Artist Campus, including the Guyer Barn with pop-up programs featured by the Cultural Center of Cape Cod. Always a favorite, the Artist Shanties at the Overlook and at Bismore Park will offer shoppers plenty to choose from.

7:30 PM CAPE SYMPHONY and TOWN OF BARNSTABLEJoy4July” CELEBRATION AT MICHAEL K. ASELTON MEMORIAL PARK (Rain Date: July 5, 2024).

A very special tradition in the making – the 2024 Town of Barnstable Fourth of July Celebrations will culminate with “Joy4July”, a free outdoor concert by Cape Symphony, led by Joe Marchio, Conductor, and featuring special guest Matthew Levesque. The performance, blending pop, Broadway, patriotic, and Americana music is free and no tickets are required. Drivers with a valid handicap placard are welcome to park in the Armory lot on South Street, across from Town Hall. The Barnstable Adult Community Center will provide free shuttle service to and from the entrance at the Maritime Museum.

 

PARKING & TRANSPORTATION – There are several municipal lots in downtown Hyannis where free parking is available for up to six hours. For a map with locations, go to https://www.townofbarnstable.us/departments/parkingdivision/Locations/parkandwalk.pdfCape Cod Regional Transit Authority (CCRTA) has hourly parking available after the first 30 minutes free at the Hyannis Transportation Center. Long-term parking is also available for daily rates. CCRTA will be operating on its regular routes with a loop every 45 minutes throughout the day. SECOND SUMMER FIREWORKS – There will be no town-sponsored fireworks on July 4th due to ongoing concerns with federally protected species. Alternatively, the third annual ‘Second Summer Fireworks’ will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024 from a barge in Lewis Bay with spectator viewing at Kalmus and Veterans Park Beaches.
